Background
Poe Sone Kyuu _ Learning Studio is a social enterprise founded and led by youths dedicated to empowering educators and children in Myanmar by providing engaging educational resources that build essential 21st-century skills. Recognizing the critical role of youths in driving social change, the initiative reflects the resilience, creativity, and leadership of youths committed to building a brighter future for Myanmar’s education sector.
Over the past 3 decades, Myanmar’s education system has faced significant challenges, including limited access to quality education, a lack of interactive learning materials, and systemic resource shortages. Educators, particularly those in non-formal education settings, often struggle with time constraints and outdated resources, making it difficult to deliver engaging and impactful lessons.
The socio-political and economic instability in Myanmar has further exacerbated educational disparities, especially in underserved and remote communities. Traditional learning methods dominate classrooms, leaving limited room for the development of critical thinking, creativity, and practical life skills. Additionally, a lack of emphasis on cultural awareness and inclusivity has hindered understanding and respect among Myanmar’s diverse ethnic communities. This creates an urgent need for educational programs that celebrate cultural diversity and promote mutual respect.
At the same time, the rapid growth of technology demands that children acquire digital literacy from an early age to navigate the digital world safely and effectively. Digital literacy, combined with financial understanding, environmental awareness, cultural identity, and social studies, forms the foundation of a holistic education model that prepares learners for the complexities of the modern world.
Recognizing these pressing needs, Poe Sone Kyuu _ Learning Studio was established to bridge educational gaps and create sustainable solutions. Our innovative approach integrates digital citizenship, financial literacy, Burmese language, environmental education, and social studies into resources such as activity books, digital classes, and educational games. By offering these tools, we aim to inspire lifelong learning, foster social good, and equip children and educators with the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.
